The mesmeric sound that opens up Violin Jone's "Skin" is not instantly identifiable. It's probably a sample which seems out of character considering past offerings. In fact, the song is distinctly electronic in feel but "real" in sound. Is this a sign of change ? After much cultural discussion of musical 'source', about organic vs. technological, 'original' vs. 'sampled', there is really no distinction anymore, no boundaries, essentially no difference. It really doesn't matter what it takes to make the sounds. Software plugin or grand piano, the results are the same. And what matters is the final result, the music.

Violin Jone's final result  is repetitive, loud, in-your-face.  It's  addictive. They present their point, dare you not to listen, and bombard your senses until you hear what they're saying. They groove & jam through three and four   minute gems that leave you  hating the silence between songs. Yet the melodies could as easily be heard over a string quintet. Such power, spirit and harmonic delicacy are rarely combined with success. Violin Jones have achieved that success and are certainly destined for more.

Violin Jones' first CD release, Butterface, is expected later this year. All tracks will also be available for download in MP3 format from this site, some in advance.
