The 1300 Sq ft space is in an old power plant in Old City, Philadelphia. I finally signed the lease last week and construction is due to begin on July 1st. As you can tell from the photo below, there is alot of work to be done. |

| There have been many revisions to the original design of the studio over the past few weeks. In the end, I decided to dispense with the idea of a small lobby and increase the area of the rehearsal / recording room. Click here to see the final plan. | |||
| July 5th, 1999 I started construction over the weekend, having moved in on July 1st, and things seem to be moving along pretty fast. With alot of help from Pierre VDD, the initial measurements have been made and some framework is up. Next on the list is the window between the control room and the rehearsal area. |

| July 8th, 1999 A decision has been made on the studio name. Names such as Troon Dek and Old Smoke have been thrown around but I've settled with Asylum Studios. Below is a photo of the control room window from the rehearsal area. The inside wall of the control, which houses a 2.5 X 8 ft window has been put in place. In front of this, an identical structure will be built as part of the freestanding "room within a room". Mounted in the latter structure will be a second sheet of glass, at a 5 degree angle to the inner pane (click here to see diagram). Special thanks to Jim G for the donation of 2 huge glass doors from which we'll cut the windows.
